Advices and Queries

Quakers have no creed or fixed doctrine. Rather, we are guided by what some of us call the Light Within, that we seek to know and cultivate through corporate silent worship, involvement in the Meeting community and commitments to peace and social justice. To the extent written principles are possible, we try to set them forth in books titled Faith and Practice, published, in our case, by the Pacific Yearly Meeting, a regional organization of unprogrammed Quakers to which the San Francisco Monthly Meeting belongs. Our Quaker Meeting for Worship is characteristic of unprogrammed Quakers. Extracts from Pacific Yearly Meeting’s Faith and Practice are customarily read at the beginning of each month at the San Francisco Monthly Meeting.
